Orrin Stroll

ORRIN STROLL

Orrin Stroll  has been involved in Vancouver's film and television industry since 1999.  During this time, he has acted for writers, motion picture producers, recording artists and other clients in the entertainment industry and broader creative media fields.   In the course of  representing clients in the entertainment field, Mr. Stroll frequently found himself  being called upon and referred by clients and colleagues to assist with resolving complex legal issues for individual and business-related immigration matters.  As a result, Mr. Stroll ultimately made the decision to expand his main practice areas to include immigration law as well which now comprises a major component of his regular practice. 

In addition, Mr. Stroll regularly lectures and mentors at Vancouver Film School.  Previous courses developed and taught by Mr. Stroll include Introduction to Film, The Business of Film I and II, Executive Producing, Film Funding and Financing, Economics of the Entertainment Industry, Copyright, Clearances, and Contracts, and Business Law and Ethics.  Mr. Stroll has been acknowledged on several occasions for teaching excellence by VFS students and faculty.  He has been the recipient of the Best Course Award and frequent nominee for the Best Instructor Award when he taught at VFS's Entertainment Business Management program.

Prior to founding Stroll Law Group, Mr. Stroll was the VP of Business and Legal Affairs for Shavick Entertainment, Inc., a busy Vancouver-based film production company for eight years until 2007.  During this period, the company produced between 12-16 motion pictures and 1-2 television series per year for such clients as E! Entertainment Television, Fox FamilyChannel, and Turner Broadcasting.  As VP of Business and Legal Affairs, Orrin was responsiblefor handling all corporate and legal matters for the company, including the management of all production-related legal work for the company's busy production schedule and overseeing the preparation and delivery of materials for each film.  

To date, Orrin has earned over seventy-five motion picture credits for a variety of film and television positions including producer, co-executive producer, business and legal affairs, and executive-in-charge-of-production.  To learn more about Mr. Stroll's selected filmography. click on the link below.

Mr. Stroll began his legal career in 1997 as a litigator at the firms of Orris Burns and Dolden Walker Follick, practicing in the areas of insurance and criminal defence litigation.  Prior to this, he already gained invaluable experience assisting legal counsel for Reebok International U.K. in London, England, with the preparation of standardized endorsement contracts for professional athletes and working for provincial Crown counsel in Vancouver on a project to develop, organize, and integrate an on-line legal information database system to be used by counsel  throughout British Columbia.

Before arriving in Vancouver, Orrin studied film and communications and obtained his B..A. degree with Honours distinction ('93) from McGill University in Montreal where he grew up.  Mr. Stroll also holds a J.D. ('97) from the University of British Columbia with a focus on entertainment law.
